It’s the Sunday Movie Showdown, The
American Film Institute’s (AFI) Top 100 vs. the Internet Movie Databases’
(IMDb) Top 100.
Only one showdown this week since I didn’t get the chance to
watch Once Upon A Time in the West as
I had hoped. But the kiddos are off to
school this week (YAY!) so I should be able to get to it no problem. Plus get
to all that other stuff (ahem, writing… cleaning… running…) that kids being
home have made more difficult all summer.
This week #22: Some
Like it Hot vs. Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Against 75% of either list, Some Like it Hot would win. Maybe even win against as much as 85 or
90% of the lists. It was #78 on the IMDb list, and it beat Charlie Chaplin’s Modern Times.
But against Raiders of
the Lost Ark? No.

So, not surprisingly, my vote goes to Raiders, (as it did when it was #66 for AFI). Not a hard choice at
all. This brings the total score to AFI – 44, IMDb -37.
